Primarily, Lifeline Screening uses three primary methods for detecting these diseases before they begin. Ultrasound screenings use high-frequency sound waves inside the body and read the echoes from those sound waves to detect shapes inside the body this can be used to detect an abdominal aortic aneurysm, a carotid artery disease, peripheral arterial disease and osteoporosis. Finger stick readings take a few drops of blood from the soft flesh at the end of someone’s fingers to identify important risk factors for heart disease and diabetes. Finally a limited electrocardiograph measures for an irregular heartbeat, which can be a major risk factor for stroke, but mostly goes undetected as a result of a lack of direct symptoms of the disease.
