The World United against Oppressions with Thor Halvorssen

Thor Halvorssen was born Thor Leonardo Mendoza 40 years ago in Venezuela. His father is of Norwegian descent while his mom was from Venezuela. He comes from a line of royalty. His mother comes from the line of the first Venezuelan president while his dad was from a Norwegian kingship family. Since he was a little boy, he has always stood for the oppressed. His first act of Humanitarian was when he helped South African students to fight against the apartheid rule in their country. Other than human rights activism, Thor is a filmmaker and a lecturer at various institutions in the United States.

Thor is credited with the establishment of the Human Rights Foundation that is based in New York. He is also the founder of the Oslo Freedom Forum. Currently, he is involved in the production of a movie called the Moon is a Harsh Mistress alongside Bryan Singer. In matters related to the film industry, Thor has established an organization called the Moving Picture Institute. Some of the issues that he stands against include human trafficking, any form of threat to democracy and finally slavery. Some of the institutions that he has lectured include Harvard School of Law, United Nations Association as well as the New York City Junto and American Enterprise Institute.

Earlier on, he uncovered some corruption deals that were going on in the Venezuelan government. He was working as a drug czar at the time. This led to him being exiled while his father was imprisoned and tortured back home in Venezuela. His mother was singled out and killed in the anti-government protests. To add salt to the wound, the perpetrators were set free after serving a short sentence in jail. He has opposed politicians in the US on matters that they don’t agree on.

Thor halvorssen is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he specialized in Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. He holds degrees in Political Science and History. His cousin Leopoldo Lopez is being held in prison in Venezuela for opposing the government. He has worked with some of the best human right activists such as Vaclav Havel and Garry Kasparov.

  1. The only emancipation we have to free ourselves from is the ones we have bound ourselves to some government ideologies. This must change really, because have written about this severally and it is of course a matter of fact and believe. As we can imagine, having the knowledge that can lead to a reorientation in the minds of the people can lead to more progress.
